Manual Lymphatic Drainage

This massage (MLD) uses very light techniques to reduce or eliminate edema (swelling) caused by issues with the lymphatic system. This usually means that protein and cells which have broken down has not made it to the lymph vessels, or that the vessels are damaged. The movements associated with MAT(E)â„¢ techniques are also an excellent treatment for this purpose.

Although the strokes are simple, it is a painstaking process that requires a lot of patience on the therapist's part. Because of the light pressure (very light touch), it might seem like nothing is being accomplished (not true) - Deeper pressure might temporarily collapse the vessels.

Note: At this time, I do not plan to offer Manual Lymphatic Drainage as described above. Though we can discuss it, Therapist@The-Dragonfly.com I recommend MAT(E)â„¢ sessions instead. If you simply MUST have Manual Lymphatic Drainage, select a 90 minute session and leave a note. Be sure you understand the nature of MLD, and that it will likely feel very intimate, due to the techniques used for the entire body.

Note: This will not help patients to quickly drop water weight so they can fit into that slim dress - it will only work for true lymphatic edema.
